Serve on a DBA Committee!
There are many ways to contribute to the success of DBA International, and if you haven’t yet served on a committee your time and talent represent a tremendous untapped resource. Many have served – and continue to do so – and DBA benefits from the abilities and expertise of a broad spectrum of members.
With so many committees to choose from, there are myriad opportunities to match your skills and interest and leverage your network for the betterment of the industry and association. We encourage you to inquire about serving on one of DBA’s committees to help guide the direction of both DBA and the industry in these challenging times:
Amicus Brief Committee
Serving under the State Legislative/Regulatory Committee, this sub-committee reviews requests to submit Amicus Briefs and makes recommendations to the State Legislative Committee, including: whether DBA should participate, whether a joint industry brief is appropriate, and who should author the briefs.
Business Development Task Force
This task force explores products, services, and partnerships to enhance member benefits and increase revenue to the association through diversification of offerings.
This committee is responsible for the editorial content of DBA International communications, including the printed magazine, e-newsletter, DBA website, Member Alerts, and more.
This committee is responsible for the development of DBA educational programs. This includes, but is not limited to, a robust webinar lineup, programs offered at the annual conference and executive summit, regional symposiums as needed, and additional offerings deemed to be needed by the Committee and/or Board.
This committee is responsible for investigation ethics complaints received about DBA International members and taking appropriate actions.
Federal Legislative/Regulatory Committee
This committee is responsible for developing recommendations for DBA positions on legislation and regulations at the federal level that affect the industry.
Legislative Fundraising Committee
This committee is responsible for soliciting donations to the DBA International Legislative Fund to support the association’s work on behalf of the membership at the state and federal levels.
This committee is responsible for developing membership recruitment and retention programs to grow the membership and evaluate current and new member needs. This committee also oversees the subcommittees on new members (Originating Creditors and International Debt Buyer members) and new market business opportunities.
State Legislative/Regulatory Committee
This committee is responsible for developing recommendations for DBA positions on legislation and regulations at the state level that affect the industry.
2017 Certification Council Committees
Administration & Budget Committee
The Administration & Budget Committee is responsible for issues concerning the administration and oversight of the Certification Program, Application procedures, Application approvals, and the development of a proposed annual budget and fee schedule. The committee is also responsible for assuring affordable access to the Certification Program.
The Audit Committee is responsible for issues concerning the administration and oversight of the Certification Program’s Compliance Audits.
Educational Requirements Committee
The Educational Requirements Committee is responsible for issues concerning the administration and oversight of the Certification Program’s Educational Requirements.
PR & Marketing Committee
The Public Relations & Marketing Committee is responsible for educating and promoting the Certification Program with DBA membership, the debt buying industry, press, public officials, and the general public. This shall include the development of all physical and electronic publications and resources, provided that they are developed jointly with the appropriate subject matter committees. All written material shall be approved or developed in collaboration with the Board’s Editorial Committee to ensure a consistent message from the DBA.
The Remediation Committee is responsible for issues concerning the administration and oversight of Deficiencies and Remediation within the Certification Program.
The Standards Committee is responsible for issues concerning the administration and oversight of the Certification Program’s Certification Standards.
How do I sign up for a committee?
DBA seeks volunteers each year immediately following the Annual Conference in February by distributing a Committee Interest Form on which volunteers can indicate the committee they are interested in serving.
