DBA International to Launch Certification Task Force
February 17, 2012
The DBA International Board of Directors, at its annual meeting on February 9, 2012, unanimously approved the creation of a Debt Buyer Certification Task Force to be chaired by former DBA Board Member Stacey Schacter.
The Task Force is charged with working with representatives of the debt buying industry, credit grantors/issuers, agencies, and other interested parties to analyze the feasibility of a comprehensive National Debt Buyer Certification Program. Among the items the Task Force will consider is an examination and an annual continuing education component designed to focus on: (1) statutory and regulatory standards at the state and federal levels; (2) the DBA Code of Conduct; and (3) industry best practices.
The Task Force is to report back to the DBA Board of Directors by August 2012 with their findings and recommendations. The Task Force is to provide opportunities for broad input from the debt buying industry, government agencies, issuers and consumer groups, as well as to provide updates to the Board of Directors and the membership during the development process.
